Medicare has many elections periods, or reasons to enroll, throughout the year. The one guaranteed election period for everyone is the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). When you are on Medicare you have the opportunity to re-evaluate your coverage DO IT. AEP runs from October 15th until December 7th of each year and every Medicare recipient can (and should) review their plan to make sure it's right for the coming year.
Though it seems cut and dry there are other dates you need to know about.
September 30th-This is the date that Medicare requires companies to have the Annual Notice of Changes (ANOC) in their members hands. The ANOC is a document informing members of any changes in costs, plan coverage or even service area. Often times you will receive this earlier in September.
October 1st-This is the day that companies release the coming years plans. October 1st is when shopping for a new plan begins!
October 15th-Licensed Agents are able to take and submit applications for the coming year.
December 7th-This is the last day to submit an application for next year using the AEP election period. Though you can do an enrollment until 11:59P on December 7th I encourage people to do their shopping before Thanksgiving to give the application time to process and be approved.
Whether this is your 1st or 10th Annual Enrollment Period it is imperative that you contact La Baye Insurance for a plan check so you are confident that your plan fits your situation for next year.
